The Co-operative College - a different kind of College for a different kind of business

Co-operate for Change - Fairtrade in Schools

Co-operate for Change - Fairtrade in Schools is a new teaching and resource pack for primary schools (KS2). The pack includes lots of classroom activities specially designed to introduce Fairtrade to KS2 students. Starting by exploring the basic concepts of ‘fairness’ and ‘trade’ the pack also looks at co-operatives and their role in the Fairtrade system. It offers lots of practical ideas on how to make your school Fairtrade friendly including information on how to set up your own Young Co-operative.

  • Get your students engaging others in the school to find what they already know and think about Fairtrade.
  • Develop co-operation skills so they understand the impact they can have by working together, and come up with ideas and an action plan.
  • Work with your students to devise and carry out activities to raise awareness about Fairtrade and in the whole school community while having a lot of fun!

The pack, which includes a CD-rom containing all the activities and supporting resources, is available free from the Co-operative College. It has been produced by the Co-operative College for the Enterprise Network. To request your copy please contact us by email

Teachers and small groups of KS2 students are invited to attend the launch of Co-operate for Change! Fairtrade in Your School. Please download our leaflet (pdf 236kb) for more information.
